History

In the late 1980's, an aircraft maintenance specialist working with Northwest Airlines was asked to address a condensation issue that was imposing multi-million dollar annual losses of constant speed drive components (CSD's) and oil. Realizing that existing metal dispensing equipment used to service aircraft systems were causing condensation within their reservoirs, and discovering that the combination of oil and water being dispensed into the aircraft systems was precipitating an acidic reaction that contaminated internal engine components, this specialist developed and designed a three-part solution.
  1. Researching and employing a non-conductive, insulating, low density polyethylene material that prevents condensation.
  2. Creating an air-drying filter to maintain internal drying consistently.
  3. Adding a quick-coupler fill feature.

The unique and innovative combination of these solutions created a closed-loop containment system, which significantly reduced the amount of lost oils due to spillage, reduced environmental and health risks, better maintained fluid integrity, and minimized equipment damage due to condensation. This advancement in equipment design saved Northwest Airlines over $2.4 million in a single year.

FluidTran was established in December 2004 to manufacture and market the advanced product line within the aviation/aerospace industry. The base dispensers have proven themselves as a value-added proposition during more than a decade of flight line use and can be modified to adapt to numerous fluid maintenance applications. Furthermore, our custom design services enable us to cooperate with clients in designing and manufacturing specific equipment or systems to meet their objectives. This combination of readily available equipment and custom design flexibility is what makes FluidTran the leader in its field.
